Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I was born in New Jersey but moved around constantly throughout my childhood since my father was in the Navy. When I turned 18 I moved to San Diego.

I am now located in Long Beach and regularly work in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. I used to do modeling tours earlier in my career but these days I stay so busy between local bookings and producing for my sites that I rarely travel for shoots.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

I remember seeing my first Playboy when I was 14 and I thought the women were so beautiful and glamorous. That was probably the start of it although I did not think about modeling as being a goal of mine throughout my teen years.

Model: Chrissy Marie; Photographer: Bradley Hartzler

How and when did you start modeling?

It wasn’t until 2009 after I had been in San Diego for a couple of years that I met a photographer who told me about Model Mayhem and offered to take some bikini photos of me so I could start a portfolio. I never expected so many people would be interested in working with me! The more shoots I did the more I loved it. I never planned on it being a full-time career but I’m very happy that’s what it turned into. Modeling really helped my self-confidence and pushed me to be creative in ways I never experienced before.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

My favorite type of modeling is glamour and glamour nude but I also enjoy fetish modeling as that is a big portion of what I’m booked for these days.

Model: Chrissy Marie; Photographer: Alan H Bruce

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

I look at their portfolio, Verified Credits/references, as well as how well they have written their email/message to me. I need to get a serious and professional vibe from the photographer for me to feel comfortable working with them.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

There are so many great glamour models out there it’s hard to narrow it down. When I first started, Carlotta Champagne and Jessica Vaugn were big inspirations for me (and still are!). These days the popular fetish models of the early 2000’s inspire me, some of whom are still active in the industry, such as Christina Carter. Models like her give me hope that I can continue modeling for many years to come.

Model: Chrissy Marie; Photographer: Shaun Tia Photography

What would be your dream shoot?

A warm exotic location with amazing hair and makeup, and of course an amazing and inspiring photographer.

How important is social media in your success?

Not very. I resisted the whole social media craze as long as possible and have never had a lack of shoots because of it.

My Instagram has been deleted twice, so I have given up on IG (and I was always careful to never post any nudity!). I do not use Facebook to book shoots either, I find a lot of people on Facebook are not serious. I mainly use Twitter to promote my websites and book gigs but find that Twitter is more used by fetish producers than photographers.

So as far as glamour modeling goes, social media has played almost no role in my success. It was all Model Mayhem and word of mouth between photographers (as well as being published in Playboy, Penthouse, etc.) that I have to thank for my success.

Model: Chrissy Marie; Photographer: Holly Randall Prod

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I produce custom videos and content for my websites which takes up a lot of my time but I still book photo shoots as my availability permits. Otherwise, I try to find time to practice yoga and enjoy what little free time I have with my partner, friends, and family.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

I’m an extremely organized person and I feel that had a big part in my success, so if I had to give any advice it would be to stay organized. Put everything on a calendar, always discuss/book shoots in writing so you can refer back for details and answer emails/messages within a few days. Respect other people’s time by not being super late or canceling last minute. Be friendly and have a good attitude on shoots. No one likes working with a grumpy model.

And, it goes without saying but only do it if you enjoy it and don’t feel pressured to shoot anything you don’t want to because of the money or pressure from the photographer or anyone else.

Photographer: Bill Earle; Model: Jazmine Dominique

William Earle is a fine art photographer based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He’s always been fascinated with photographs without being able to truly pinpoint when his journey in the photographic arts began. He began shooting black and white film, with his precious Nikon camera and was undeterred by his initial lack of photography knowledge. He nows looks back on that time as a necessary critical step in his journey.

When Bill decided to take up photography more seriously he spent a year choosing a teacher. He stated, “What I learned during that week has served me well and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. It is the foundation that supports my work. I had no knowledge of what I was passionate about photographing after that week so I continued making photographs and learning. Three years later I discovered that the nude is my passion.”

Bill went on to study with Cig Harvey, Joyce Tenneson, John Goodman, and Kim Weston. He says, “Experience has taught me that careful selection of one’s teachers and mentors is extremely important and valuable in the learning and growing process as an artist.”

He’s inspired and influenced by imagery that evokes mood, feeling, and emotion. Imagery that makes the viewer think and holds their interest. Bill recently published, Nude – The Book,

Rose of Venus | VIP Member | Verified Credits (12)

Model: Rose of Venus; Photographer: JCSPix

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I’m a West Coast baby and now an official island girl. I was born in Southern Oregon in a small town called Klamath Falls, which sits on the shores of an incredible high alpine lake with blue algae used for medicine.  We moved around a lot when I was growing up, so I spent time living in Portland, OR,  Southern California, South-Western Montana and the Pacific Northwest on a little island called Vashon, WA (near Seattle).

I am based out of the north shore of Kauai, HI currently with frequent trips to Los Angeles and the SF Bay Area and I’m available to travel for international bookings.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

As a child, I was very fascinated with everything theatrical. Dance, music, film, fashion and musical theater. I noticed modeling was one of the ways many talented artists expressed and portrayed their creativity to the world. I loved the way an editorial or portrait captures someone’s essence and gives viewers a glimpse into their evocative world.

Model: Rose of Venus; Photographer: Sarah Lee Photography

How and when did you start modeling?

My first modeling gig was for an office supply store in my hometown for a back to school ad in the newspaper. When I was 15 I moved to a very artistic island and began to pose nude for drawing, sculpture and painting groups in studios around the island. I would make music mixes and get into a very meditative place holding poses for a long time. When I was 18 I got a job at the Art Institute of Seattle posing nude for very large art classes. It was a great experience because I became extremely confident posing naked for hundreds of my peers.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I’m a very aquatic person, so I love posing in and underwater the most. I also love traveling internationally and posing nude in rugged nature settings for interesting local artists. Body-scapes in a professional studio are really fun for me as well as posing with animals.

Model: Rose of Venus; Photographer: Mischa Koorneef

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

I look at their references as well as their portfolio to see if it reflects a certain aesthetic that speaks to my soul. I also prefer to work with photographers who are submitting their work for publication.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

Some photographers I adore are, Alexandra Bochkareva, Howard Schatz, Rusland Lobanov, and Imogen Cunningham. Some of my favorite models on Model Mayhem are Anastasia ArteyevaAnne ModelGwen Nymph and Urtreen.

What would be your dream shoot?

Posing in the desert in Africa somewhere with rescued wild cats and animals, while modeling elegant dresses for a famous designer to be published in their international campaign.

How important is social media in your success?

It’s becoming incredibly relevant. Instagram is a great way to network and has been getting me more and more work.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I am a performance artist and I see modeling as a crucial element of my work. I am a musician, DJ, actor, dancer, sailor, and a published writer. I am passionate about helping co-create a better world for everyone to enjoy and thrive in.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

Self-love is the highest form of love there is. Visualize success and expect it to happen. Loving yourself and expecting success creates confidence that shines through in every photo. Negotiate rates and payment ahead of a shoot, be on time and don’t be flakey, stay organized and if you get a bad feeling about a potential photographer, always trust your instinct. You got this!

Modeltechie, Fan-Pei Koung, is a professional model based in Berkeley, CA. She was formerly in cancer research, won a NASA hackathon, worked at eBay, was Miss Taiwanese American Princess 2019, and deferred from Yale, ultimately declining, to pursue her creative passions.

She has traveled to dozens of cities and countries all over the world, including walking the red carpet at the Cannes Festival, and is walking in New York Fashion Week this weekend with Hill Tribe Fusion, a Hmong cultural fashion designer, as a nontraditional, body-positive model.

“Model Mayhem was my main tool to start my modeling, connect to creatives, and make a living. I really appreciate how it connects so many people, interests, styles, and artists all over the world and empowers everyone of all skill levels, backgrounds, and body types to make art. It liberates modeling from the sole purview of model agencies to anyone who wants to create, and this platform and community have helped me appreciate all kinds of beauty, not just what we’re fed by the mainstream media. I hope this movement continues to include all types of beauty across race, body, and identity spectrums. Model Mayhem has helped me gain independence, as a model and as a woman, and that means so much to me.” – Modeltechie

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I was born and live in a small city in North-East Ukraine, but travel a lot for modeling, including every second month I’m on tour in Europe.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

Beauty never was the first place in my life but when I looked at myself in the mirror, I always saw something special and wanted to share this with the world. I feel modeling is the perfect way to express my vision of beauty.

Model: Lena Filanea; Photographer: Studio VC Photography

How and when did you start modeling?

I’ve been modeling since 18, but not in art nude photography. Seven years ago I decided to try myself in art nude photography and since then modeling is my main job.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I most enjoy art nude modeling! There is a very fine line between naked beauty and vulgarity, but I strive for sensuality and beauty.

Model: Lena Filanea; Photographer: Sacha Leyendecker

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

I analyze the photographer’s work first. If I can be suitable for his style, I analyze our communication. Personality is really important to me. I will not work with a photographer, even if he has great pictures if he is rude and not respectful.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

There are so many great photographers… Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Jack Gescheidt, Ellen Rogers, Peter Lindbergh, Vincent Peters. I really love photos of talented actresses. These women know how to express themselves from happiness to deep drama and I really enjoy seeing all these moods in one person.

Model: Lena Filanea; Photographer: Frederik Verdiere

What would be your dream shoot?

I would like to shoot in an old castle with amazing dresses and a story behind the shoot. I think that would be great!

How important is social media in your success?

Of course, it’s important because I can post thousands of pictures there and communicate with people easily, but I prefer to get a job on professional platforms like Model Mayhem.

Model: Lena Filanea; Photographer: Stefano Tarlao

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I am a very active person. I invest a lot of time in my look and regularly visit a cosmetologist and the gym, I care about what I eat and like long-distance walking. I’m also building a new business, instead of modeling, for when it will be time to leave. In addition, I spend a lot of time with my family.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

I would advise new models to believe in yourself, work hard and become better every day. And of course, accept your imperfection. There are millions of pretty people, but in my opinion, our imperfection makes us unique.

Photographer: Axakadam

Seckin Erel, who uses the alias Axakadam, was born in Istanbul and now lives in Strasbourg, France. A lawyer by profession, his journey in instant photography started just 8-years ago as a completely self-taught hobbyist. His work, which went public less than three years ago on Polaroid-Passion.com, and has since been featured in many instant art exhibitions in Europe and published in various forms, including Photodarium Private calendars.

Photographer: Axakadam; Model: Sadie Von Paris

Axakadam shoots exclusively with instant films of all formats and expiry dates, and mainly uses modified Time-Zero SX-70 AF cameras and a Polaroid 195 camera. Nevertheless, because of the large framing required for his theatrical scenes and the visibility of the human expressions, his preferred formats are 4×5 and 8×10 films that he shoots with a Graflex Speed Graphic and a Linhof Kardan Color 18×24.

Photographer: Axakadam

Axakadam never uses post-production tools, except for reframing or dust removal. Influenced mainly by Sally Mann, Francesca Woodman, Liliroze, Jan Saudek, and Joel-Peter Witkin, his only goal is to reach a distinctive signature in representing “The Woman,” who is a never-ending mystery to him. Thus, he hates the terms “model” or “shooting,” preferring instead to use the term, “collaborators.”

Model: Es Pucca

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I am born and raised in Zeeland, The Netherlands. At the moment I am based in Rotterdam. I don’t travel fulltime for shoots, but every now and then, and I am definitely planning to do more traveling.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

Modeling just came on my path and I followed that path. It was the best choice ever! The photographers and other models that I have worked with or follow on social media inspire me every day.

Model: Es Pucca

How and when did you start modeling?

I started modeling in 2018. All because a photographer asked me to shoot with him trough a message on Instagram.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I love to do different things, outdoor, art, fashion, nude and erotic shoots. I find doing different shoots the most interesting. It is my goal to be a good model for different types of content.

Model: Es Pucca; Photographer: Eric Kellerman

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

I check if he has references from other models, does he have an online portfolio/website or other media so that I can see his work. Also, how is the conversation, does he answer respectfully and professionally? Most of all, I always trust my instinct.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

A lot of people inspire me, but, two of the models that inspire me the most are Aja Jane, and Quinn Linden!

Model: Es Pucca

What would be your dream shoot?

My dream shoot, that is a secret but I have more ideas… I would love to have an old fashion themed shoot. Also, I would love to be in a waterfall or swamp while wearing a beautiful see-through long dress. Shooting in the desert, a shoot with a snake of big butterfly’s. I have so many concepts in mind that I think I will never be done modeling.

How important is social media in your success?

For me, Instagram is very important. I get a lot of shoot offers through there but because of the new algorithm, it is more and more difficult for models. And I am so happy that I have a Model Mayhem account that I can show my portfolio, upload travel notices, and castings. It’s great to meet photographers around the world. I also love that you can see and leave references.

Model: Es Pucca; Photographer: Shotbysud

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I teach different dance classes, dance performances and performance art.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

Follow your dreams, work hard, and trust your instincts. Do your best every time and take the time to learn to your craft, and don’t forget to enjoy it!

Model: Freya Gallows; Photographer: Dwayne Martin

Dwayne Martin became interested in photography about 15 years ago when he got my first camera, a very early Kodak digital, but he became interested in film photography in 2009. Unfortunately, that was also about the time that the local developing labs started to disappear in south Florida, but while that slowed him down it also prompted him to start developing his own film, and since then he hasn’t picked up a digital camera!

Photographer: Dwayne Martin

He was inspired by an art nude magazine he bought in a used book store in 1999. That led to the discovery of Helmut Newton’s work, and the combination of those two things stuck with him until years later when he started shooting nudes.

Photographer: Dwayne Martin

Dwayne is primarily a large format photographer these days but he still shoots medium format. He said, “The older the camera and lens the better. Working with old large format equipment and film is complicated and that makes me better because I know that if I make a mistake that’s the only chance I will get because the model will be long gone by the time I realize.”

Looking at his volume of stunning work, those mistakes don’t happen very often.

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I grew up on the West Coast and I’m based in Los Angeles, CA. I am an avid traveler and often travel for fun, but I’m not a full-time “traveling model.” That being said, I’m always happy to connect with other artists when I’m in a new city/country.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

I remember wanting to be a model for my whole life.

How and when did you start modeling?

When I was twelve years old I would have agency scouts stop me in shopping malls, but my Mama wanted me to get an education and have a solid foundation before entering the industry. It wasn’t until I finished college that I started modeling professionally, and by then I was considered “too old” by many top agencies. I’ve forged my own path, accepting projects that I’m excited to be a part of and I’ve done everything from hair shows to runway, editorials, and commercial work.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I’ve found a great love for “nude in nature” type shoots and workshops. There’s something so rewarding about emoting and creating interesting shapes with the body out amongst the beauty of Mother Nature. I also do a lot of boudoir shoots and have been dabbling more in the erotic art world. I enjoy creating art that celebrates my sexuality in evocative and thought-provoking ways.

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

Respect and professionalism, always. Obviously, my sexuality is connected to my art and my naked form, but I appreciate when a photographer understands that it is mine to share in an artistic way and can help facilitate a safe and comfortable working environment for both of us.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

I’m currently geeking out about a lot of wonderful humans right now: Justin Rosenberg, a photographer who creates moody and emotive portraits and erotica on film. Kevin Mendez, a photographer who primarily uses golden hour light and does an excellent job of capturing the female form in a tastefully sexualized way.

Kayla Lauren, a model who is able to translate her boss bitch energy into every shot and in a single year has grown to over half a million followers on Instagram. Liberty Netuschil, a model who is body-positive and always promotes messages that empower others to follow their passions. HopelessSoFrantic, a model who balances erotic content and fine art with grace and makes time to help other models on their journey– as she helped me!

What would be your dream shoot?

Creating art out in an exotic location– be it a beach, ocean, desert, whatever– with a team of other artists who empower and inspire.

How important is social media in your success?

Vital! I’m trying to use my social media platforms in ways that help empower others as well as promote my artistry. I only recently started using social media in a professional way and it has been amazing the impact it’s had on my career! It’s the face we choose to show to the world and I carefully curate what I want to be perceived as beautiful, but with substance (and a whole lot of silliness).

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

As I mentioned, I’m an avid traveler, more specifically, I’m a solo female backpacker. It’s a passion that is often met with stigma and judgment, but it’s the most liberating and empowering thing I’ve ever done for myself. I love to wake up in a foreign city and ask myself, “What do I want to do today?” No one else to answer to. No one else to dictate how I should be spending my time. I love the agency and empowerment of it (notice a common theme here?).

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

My advice would be to find your boundaries and your strengths and figure out what you want out of this career. I know so many girls who get into nude modeling for the money or the fame and end up just as unhappy as anyone working a 9-5 job they hate. Don’t be afraid to say “no.” Find out what excites you and what you really want to be doing, and then do it!

When I first moved to LA, I had all these ideas in my head about what I “should” and “shouldn’t” do regarding nudity and my image, but I’ve found so much joy and freedom in the line of work I’ve ended up in, even if it looks nothing like the plan I originally had in mind. But also, don’t compromise yourself. Five years ago I wasn’t ready to model nude– I didn’t love my body nor have the savviness to navigate the industry that I do now. Say yes to opportunities if they feel good to you, not because you feel obligated to, and never for the money. The money will come and go, but your self-worth is yours.

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I am originally from a small town in central Florida. At 18 I moved away and for four years I lived in multiples places, namely NYC, Sydney, Australia, on a small cruise ship, and Paris. I moved to Miami last September to be closer to my family and the Caribbean where I live part-time.

I typically travel for shoots two of the four weeks out of the month.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

Watching America’s Next Top Model and the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows with my brother.

Model: MakaylaD; Photographer: Steven H

How and when did you start modeling?

I started modeling at 17. As soon as I could take myself to an agency in Orlando I went and was signed on the spot. It was a very proud moment.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

Tougher question, I really enjoy fashion and edgy editorial work but I truly also love creative artistic nude shoots.

Model: MakaylaD

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

Their reputation with the people that they have worked with.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

I have always been a huge fan of Victoria’s Secret model, Candice Swanepoel. I love her spirit, her wanderlust, and her motherhood. I am a sucker for Bella Hadid. I am also very inspired by photographers that I work with and the models around me. Zoe West and Lucy are two women who inspired me to start art nude modeling.

What would be your dream shoot?

A castle in Romania or Germany, or maybe my future wedding day.

How important is social media in your success?

Hugely important. For all of my businesses.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

I truly love to work out and do yoga, I love the results it provides and the way it makes me feel to stretch and challenge my body. I’m a movie and documentary nerd. I love to be outdoors and to yes, to eat! I seriously love good food and coffee.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

My advice to new models is to trust your instincts and never put yourself in compromising situations. Always be on time or early for shoots. Put yourself on as many channels as possible to get noticed for the next job. Be careful of agencies that just want to sign you for your money for a “portfolio shoot package.” Lastly, I’d say to be careful of who you follow on Instagram. I curate the people I’m following by accounts that make me feel confident and connected, being inundated with shallow Instagram models and influencers can be suffocating and demotivating.

I would just like to wrap this by saying THANK YOU to the photographers that have been a huge part of my success in my first year of working through Model Mayhem. Model Mayhem is a great platform to connect us and I’m super excited to see what this next year brings for my career!

Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I’m from Florence, Italy, but I’ve been living in the West of Ireland for the past 12 years. I travel all over Europe constantly for shoots and I’m about to embark on my first Canada tour!

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

I grew up in Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, surrounded by paintings and sculptures by masters like Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Donatello… so, how could I not feel inspired to model? Art has always been a huge part of my life, thanks also to my father who’s a photographer.

Model: Valentina The Black Pearl; Photographer: Magdalena Russocka

How and when did you start modeling?

When I was little my father used to bring me out on Sundays and take portraits of me with his film camera, so I guess I started then, haha! At the age of 19, I started working as a life model in the Florence Academy of Arts and other Florentine schools, and from there I began working with photographers as well.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

I absolutely love shooting nudes in nature. I find endless inspiration in the natural landscape, especially forests and rocky environments. Shooting outdoors is often tricky and can be uncomfortably cold, but oh, so rewarding. That said, I also love the comfort of studios and indoor locations. My modeling is my way of telling stories, and different environments inspire different stories. It’s hard to say which ones I prefer!

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

First of all professionalism and respect. And by that, I mean a clear pre-shoot conversation about where, when, themes for the shoot, and no endless messages with no useful information. This is my profession, I can’t spend hours chatting with each photographer who may or may not want to shoot. We can do all the chit chat during or after the shoot, once the shoot is booked!

You don’t need to have a huge portfolio to be professional, it’s your attitude towards the shoot and the model that shows how professional you are. And I will, of course, always check references for photographers I haven’t worked with before.

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

Oh, so many! I’m always inspired by hard-working, creative souls, and thanks to social media I discover new ones every day. I have a long list of models that I follow eagerly, some of them I have been lucky enough to work with, and some I am looking forward to meeting in the future. Eva Luna, Ivory Flame, Johannsdottir, Elle Beth, Kate Snig, Ayla Rose, Aria Rainbow, and Tinkerbella, to name just a few!

Model: Valentina The Black Pearl; Photographer: Alexandre Cabrita

What would be your dream shoot?

I would absolutely love to shoot in an ancient sequoia forest. But I dream to shoot in every possible environment on the planet, from deserts to icebergs.

How important is social media in your success?

Absolutely fundamental. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do if it wasn’t for social media.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

Plants and music must be my biggest passions. I love hiking, I study herbalism and botany, and I love dancing and going to concerts. I also love practicing yoga and pilates.

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

Know your limits and do your research! Always check references before working with someone and learn to say NO if you don’t want to do a certain shoot. Be safe. And enjoy yourself!
